Staycationing

Again, I've managed to lag when it comes to blogging. I guess the summer in Los Angeles can make you kinda lazy. After graduating from my program in New York, I finally got to enjoy some time off from my day job where I spend eons at the computer emailing my mind away every day.

So I was so overjoyed at taking some time off for a little RR. And what did my man and I have planned? A staycation...the new word for all us people in the US who aren't zipping around on airplanes off to some foreign and exotic beach, but rather enjoying our time right here in our City of her Lady, the Queen of Angels, or commonly know as, LA.

LA is isn't half bad for chillaxing, another word we love here. Chillaxing at the beach, the parks, and all the open air venues with live music and live people! From the Getty, to the Hollywood Bowl, the Ford, Grand Performances, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Griffith Park and the SM Mountains, boy we've got it made in the summer. Especially cause almost everything is FREE, or gratis as they say in my country! And inexpensive and free is one reason why a staycation is great, because you aren't spending all that money that it takes now to fly. Granted, you gotta pay for gas, but you can go public transport, and if you haven't done that yet in LA, please, try it, that will make anyone feel like they are an out of towner! Or head over to Catalina Island. That place feels like a world away, but only a short trip by boat. It's another beach paradise right here in our own backyard.

So next time, call your people, Go Metro, grab your blanket, a bottle of vino tinto, and head Downtown for a free show at Grand Performances, or to the Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park, and chillax. Take some staycation, go on, you know you deserve it.

Live a good life,

  2. Nice. i love those words "staycation" and "chillaxing". I'm gonna have to do some of that now that the clothes have arrived from Ghana and aren't what I ordered (smile).
